Frederick Albion Ober (1849-1913) was a self-educated American
naturalist who won fame exploring the Lesser Antilles, where he
discovered 22 bird taxa. He was elected a member of the American
Antiquarian Society in 1893 and was a co-founder of the Explorers
Club.
