About the Author

One of Australia’s most experienced travel writers, and two-time winner of the prestigious Australian Society of Travel Writers Best Adventure Story Award, Lee Atkinson has been writing about her adventures on and off the road for Australian newspapers, magazines and travel guides since 1991. A self-confessed road trip junky who loves getting away from the crowds in wild and remote places, she believes that any excuse to hit the road is a good one, although she also admits to being quite fond of a bit of five-star luxury now and then. Lee is the author of 12 travel books and two smartphone apps about travelling in and around Australia, and co-editor of two anthologies of travel writing, as well as a well as a contributor to Explore Australia’s Camping Around Australia guide and the road-tripping bible, Explore Australia.  Her most recent books published by Hardie Grant Travel are Australia’s Best Nature Escapes, Explore Australia by Camper Trailer and Driving Holidays Around Australia.
