Reviews

"Detached, sympathetic, highly accomplished biography" The Observer "A hilarious, shocking, sad story... a brilliant book" Kingsley Amis "Thomas' best biographer" - London Review of Books "...stands apart, and instantly impresses by its civilized tone and balance" - Daily Mail "Its strength lies in its understanding of Thomas' roots in a particular West Wales culture - 'haunted, ingrowing, ill-fated'" - The Scotsman
