Alan J. Avery-Peck is Kraft-Hiatt Professor in Judaic Studies in
the Religious Studies Department of the College of the Holy Cross,
Worcester, Massachusetts. Previously he held the post of Professor
of Classical Studies at Tulane University, New Orleans, where he
was also director of the Jewish Studies Program. Alongside his many
publications on Rabbinic Judaism, he is editor of Review of
Rabbinic Judaism: Ancient, Medieval and Modern.
Jacob Neusner, Ph.D., Columbia University, is Research Professor of
Religion and Theology at Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. He
has published more than 800 books and is Editor of The Brill
Reference Library of Ancient Judaism: Studies in Ancient Judaism
(University Press of America); Academic Studies in the History of
Judaism, Academic Studies on Religion and the Social Order, and
International Studies in Formative Christianity and Judaism (all
published by Global Publications, SUNY, Binghamton).
Bruce Chilton, Bard College, is a scholar of early Christianity and
Judaism, who has authored the first critical translation of the
Aramaic version of Isaiah (The Isaiah Targum, 1987), as well as
academic studies that put Jesus in his Jewish context (A Galilean
Rabbi and His Bible, 1984; The Temple of Jesus, 1992; Pure Kingdom,
1996; Rabbi Jesus, 2000).
