About the Author

Peter Heiberg began sailing almost as soon as he could walk and has continued to do so throughout his life (and is surprised daily by how little he knows about the subject). He began working on the water commercially in his early thirties, and has held numerous jobs in many different parts of the world on diverse types of power and sailing vessels. His resume includes commercial fishing, tugs, cruise ships, delivery skipper and yacht master. Peter is convinced that he would have had far fewer jobs if various employers had exhibited enough maturity to avoid letting such trivial human failings as ignorance and sloth cloud their judgement. Peter now sails out of Gibsons Landing in British Columbia, Canada, and is semi-retired.
