Lorien Foote is the Patricia & Bookman Peters Professor of History
at Texas A&M University. She is the author of four books about
the American Civil War including The Yankee Plague: Escaped Union
Prisoners of War, The Gentlemen and the Roughs: Manhood, Honor, and
Violence in the Union Army, and Seeking the One Great Remedy:
Francis George Shaw and Nineteenth-Century Reform.
Earl J. Hess, Emeritus Professor of History at Lincoln Memorial
University, is the author of twenty-four books about the Civil War,
including Civil War Supply and Strategy: Feeding Men and Moving
Armies, Civil War Logistics: A Study of Military Transportation,
and Civil War Infantry Tactics: Training, Combat, and Small-Unit
Effectiveness.
