A Patchwork of Heart is an emotional children's picture book
written by Dr. Ellen Paton with illustrations by Shayna Renee
Olivier. In a land filled with adorable animals, each creature is
given a heart, a patchwork of colorful art threaded onto their
chests. One day, Bear wakes up and discovers the colors on his
patchwork have been washed away by the rain. His heart is all grey,
and he feels sad. He embarks on a journey to find new colors to add
to his heart and find joy again. On his quest, he makes new friends
and learns the power of being hopeful for a better day.
A Patchwork of Heart is a wonderful tale for both children and
adults. We all have bad days filled with gloom and sadness. This
story is here to remind us that there is light at the end of the
tunnel. All we need is patience and hope. The book also has lessons
on kindness, giving, having fun, and friendship. Dr. Ellen Paton
presented these messages in a calm and friendly tone. She uses
rhymes and soothing words to write the story and captivate readers.
The story has a smooth flow from start to finish and is ideal for
kids of all ages. The book also contains beautiful illustrations
that perfectly correspond with the story. Shayna Renee Olivier did
a great job of capturing the emotions of the characters and making
you relate to them. I recommend parents and guardians read this
book with their children and teach them the importance of being
hopeful.
