Le Corbusier (1887-1965) was one of the most significant figures of 20-century architecture. The Swiss-French architect's buildings, interior designs, urbanistic visions, and writings remain highly influential until the present day. Tim Benton, born 1945, is a British scholar, writer, and broadcaster. He is a professor of art history at Open University and has written extensively on Le Corbusier. He has been a visiting professor at Bard Graduate College (2003) and at Columbia University's Department of Art and Archaeology (2007) in the US.
Praise for the previous edition
"Precisions gives English-speaking architects and students an
entrée into a period of Le Corbusier's work that is usually
overlooked in twentieth-century surveys. . . . Le Corbusier himself
saw Precisions as marking an important shift. . . . [This book] not
only gives us insight into a critical moment of transition in Le
Corbusier's work but also reveals a dimension of this complex yet
very human architect that has been largely ignored in the
functionalist polemics of the early modern movement."-- "Journal of
the Society of Architectural Historians"
