"Shine, Star, Shine! is a book that will help explain some of the
mystery of stars, using our closest star, the sun, as its principal
character. [...] Author Dom Conlon is a poet with a background in
advertising, and he's used this experience well to select and write
about starry facts in an unusual and expressive way. The lilting
narrative is complemented with beautiful pictures by illustrator
and graphic designer Anastasia Izlesou. Shine, Star, Shine! is a
great STEM-themed book to add to home libraries, and to use in
classrooms."
*Kids' Book Review*
"There have been many books in library collections that have the
sun as their focus for information, but few would be as poetic as
this one. while still having so much information packed into it ,
including some facts that explain the use of some of Conlon’s
terminology such as “planet-turner” because of the Sun’s
gravitational pull on the planets of the solar system."
*The Bottom Shelf*
"This short, richly illustrated book provides a lyrical and
imaginative introduction to the beginning of our solar system and
the birth of our own star, the Sun. We journey with the Sun to see
how she affects our world, the changing seasons, and providing the
energy and warmth to help us grow the food we need."
