Having worked with psychopaths he now enjoys writing about them. Leo is a retired psychologist who has worked in the prison system, education and in private practice. He is published in both non-fiction and fiction genres describing fiction writing as the best form of therapy he has ever experienced. He is currently writing a post-apocalyptic series set in the Australian desert and the city of Adelaide. He is married with three children and to grandchildren.
"Reading about Leo Nix's background as a psychologist who has
worked in the prison system, and education helps explain how he has
been the insight into personalities to craft such realistic
characters for this compelling Apocalyptic novel. It was a fabulous
bonus for me to discover that much of this story takes place in the
Australian desert--which is a location I'm familiar with and love.
As I read, it was clear Leo Nix also knows the country and its
people. This passed my local knowledge critique. It's a great
story." Reggie"Having lived for some years in the Northern
Territory I approached reading this book with a degree of
uncertainty. It isn't easy to capture that area or its old timers
with reality and understanding. Leo Nix does so with such clarity
that I was intstantly pulled into the story. The characters were
Territorians, from the rum to the rollies (hand rolled cigarettes).
What an unforgettable bunch of people gathering together and
fighting, each in their own way, for the group's survival! I loved
them all. I had no trouble with the language, it was just right.
Although there could've been a few more "eh"s in there. I cried
over Shamus, what a brilliant tactician! I hope people are not put
off by the Aussieisms and read an exceptional apocalyptic novel,
set in one of the most awe inspiring places in the world. A
fantastic read!" Kay M"It's tough to come up with an original
apocalyptic premise but this author succeeded. As we all know,
religious fundamentalism is rampant and often terrifying these
days.
The characters are well developed, the action is intense and I was
so impressed with the amount of details...so important when it
comes to a book like this. If the reader knows the writer has done
their homework it never feels like they're just going through the
motions. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author in the
future!" Jim M"Wasn't sure what to expect from this book as this
was my first by this author. Very captivating and hard to put down
when bedtime rolls around! Definitely worth the money and be ready
to have a new favorite author." Patricia F"I really liked this
book, set in the Australian outback, a curious cast of characters
who all have to work together to survive a really great read."
Staple"I found that I was invested in the group and main
characters. The plot was good, the main characters realistic and
well developed, the timeline was stable. I am keen for the next
book, it was a very good read. I especially loved Pedro and
Sundown. It was a shame Shamus did not last but with him popping up
every now and then it's good, not just another lost character.I
also liked Shadow, she come across as a strong independent women.
The other female characters contributed to the story with strength
and ability." Johnny DL"I really enjoyed the different setting in
Australia and I loved the characters and the twist of Sundown. I'm
really looking forward to the next two books. I can hardly wait to
find out what happens to my friends." Caroline MJ"I enjoyed the
book. It kept me entertained. I liked the assortment of characters
and hope book 2
is a continuation." Baraptor"The story was fast paced, easy to
follow and did not require one to suspend disbelief to really get
into it. The characters and their dialogue are complex, realistic
and believable. Book 1 ended in a good spot since the storyline of
this novel was resolved. Potential for follow-on books was
presented and interest in future chapters of Sundown's story was
laid down. All-in-all, Sundown Apocalypse was a great read and I
heartily suggest you pick it up." Dan C.
