Reviews

A blackout in New York traps claustrophobic Laney McLeod in the elevator of an apartment building with successful attorney Deke Sargent. Already mellow from drinks during a dinner out with friends, Laney falls prey to an ensuing panic that leaves her vulnerable to first, Deke's rescue and, then, his spontaneous seduction. The next morning she flees his bed to resume her life as a kindergarten teacher in Arkansas. Six months later Deke shows up in her schoolyard, determined to win both the woman he cannot forget and the child she carries. This classic romance, while dated in its representation of laws and attitudes, is an erotic fantasy that still appeals. Richard Ferrone's rumbling voice enhances the story of Deke's assault on Laney's independence. Recommended for adult fiction collections; this book contains explicit sexual material.-Janet Martin, FirstHealth of the Carolinas, Pinehurst, NC Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
