Trumpeter and flugelhornist Art Farmer's thoughtfully mellow style made him one of the most enduring presences in jazz, spanning decades and overriding trends. BRASS SESSIONS collects two separate, rare, and long unavailable Art Farmer LPs circa 1959-60. BRASS SHOUT features the tenor sax and bright, classy arrangements of Benny Golson and a stellar roster of brass accompanists, including trumpter Lee Morgan, french hornist Julius Watkins, and trombonist Curtis Fuller. AZTEC SUITE is a nod to the Afro-Cuban/Latin influence on bebop. There are standards featuring lots of Latin percussion, but the centerpiece is the stimulating 16-minute title track, composed by Chico O'Farrill.
