Savoy's Giants of Jazz: Groove collects various tracks of funk/soul or "groove"-oriented jazz. As such, the compilation focuses heavily on cuts from the 1970s, when such organ-friendly jazz influenced by the popular soul and R&B music of the day was in vogue. While these are by no means rare recordings, they are often overlooked in lieu of more mainstream fair.
